One of my resolutions for 2013 was to discover myself and what I wanted in life, and so blogging is going to be one of my steps to discovering what my aims actually are. Hopefully I stick with it, we shall see!
So, one of the first things I done on the first of January was create a 'Piggy bank of goals' so to speak. I basically wrote down 48 things which I wanted to accomplish this year - some big, others smaller and more achievable - on individual squares of paper. I folded these up and put them all in a spare piggy bank (I didn't have any dishes or large jars but anything can be used to store these goals, just whatever you have lying around). The basic idea is that on the first day of every month I'll pick out 4 of these pieces of paper at random, and set these as my goals for the month ahead.
I really think that setting goals for yourself is a key step in achieving what you want, and this is a fun little idea which will keep you on your toes and focusing on what you want. Some of my goals are really simple, such as 'Get in touch with a friend who you haven't spoken to in a while' whilst others such as 'Give blood' are a bit more important.
The beauty of this method is that you are not simply ticking things off of a list, and so cannot choose which goals to complete first. A part of me does believe in fate, and so I think that the order in which you pull the goals out of the jar is the right order to complete them in.
I don't know if anyone will even read these posts, but if not then at least I have a place to collectively sum up my year and look back on. However if anyone is reading this, hopefully some of you will like this idea and give it a try! This year is feeling like a positive one for me and I really hope that it is a year of change for others who, like me, find it hard to decide what they want in life.
All the best for 2013!
